Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
Starting this Sunday, July 14, I want to invite you to participate with me for 30 days of prayer. As we look forward to what God has in store for us, these next 30 days will help focus us as our charette team meets with the BGW/SB Construction groups and dreams about the ministries God calls us to as Royse City Methodist Church.
The prayer guide can be downloaded at this link or picked up in worship this Sunday at the Glenda Arnold ECLC.
Prayer has been key to what we have done as a church since I’ve been your pastor. Over the past 8 years, we’ve had prayer vigils and focuses to help us during important keystones in the life of our church.
I would like to see the focus of this season of prayer be more than praying for our church. I pray that as we begin this season, each and every one of us prays to see how God is calling us to be in ministry with each other and our community.
We don’t do this timidly; as Hebrews reminds us, we pray with confidence, knowing that God is on the move, and we want to be about the work of Jesus here in Royse City.
For the longest time, I’ve known and felt the power of prayer in my life. There have been seasons in my life where prayer has become more of a lifeline than others. Even in the past eight years here at Royse City Methodist Church, prayer has kept me moving forward through difficult times (staff transitions, a pandemic and its challenges, and denominational turmoil.)
If you are like me, since May 28, prayer has strengthened me on this journey, and I’ve felt a call for us to join in 30 days of prayer. Dallas Willard said this about prayer: “Prayer is talking with God about what we are doing together.” Over the next 30 days, beginning this Sunday, July 14, I invite you to join me in this prayer time to lift up our church, our staff, our leadership and our community.
I’m excited for this focused time of prayer, and I can’t wait to see you this Sunday at Glenda Arnold ECLC for worship at 10:00 am!
Be God’s,
Pastor Chris
